Catholic Ceremonies
Catholic weddings in Italy are the only ‘religious‘ legally binding wedding recognised in Italy. Therefore, only religious weddings with a Catholic rite can have legal validity and automatically registered world-wide.
- If one of you was married before with a religious ceremony, you cannot marry with a catholic rite unless an official annulment was granted by the religious authorities
- Requirements to get married with a catholic rite is that at least one of you is catholic.
- A catholic ceremony will combine both a civil and catholic ceremony therefore there is no need to get married first at the town hall. The priest will marry you both religiously and legally.
- An English speaking interpreter is required by law if you don’t speak Italian
- Ceremonies last more or less 45 minutes
- Couple’s choice of readings
